🔥 “Life itself is your teacher, and you are in a state of constant learning.” 🔥
So I finished my very first duathlon the other week. Composed of a 12km run - 40k bike - 6km run. Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect as I had no run training due to an ankle strain. Yup, that’s how crazy I am, doing a race that is composed of mostly running with ZERO run training! Inspite of the challenges before me, I was able to successfully finish the race in good time. 30 minutes below my estimated time and a personal best on my 12km run! My bike was pretty strong too, with approximately 10 minutes difference from my last race which was a relay so my legs were fresh then. Wohoo!
Another important thing I was able to do with this race was keep track of my nutrition. 🍊🍌🍎 I regularly took my Gu and Saltsticks at the suggested intervals. I completely neglected this at the 5150 race and was absolutely smashed by the run leg as a result.
Like Bruce Lee said, life is a state of constant learning. 👟train, train, train (bike training will do wonders to your run). 🍎NEVER neglect your nutrition before, durring & after a race. 👖 And compression clothing is your best friend at a duathlon race! 😆
Grateful for my personal photographer/PA/driver, my baby sis @filteredsunshine. Also to my friends who cheered me on, thank you!
A big thanks to my sponsors:
